Memories

Three years back when I was in 12th class we were a group of almost 10-12 (a mammoth group taking into consideration other ones πŸ˜› ).Some of us used to meet at local “chaiwalla [tea-stall]” shop aka typical rang de Basanti style pathsalla –पाठशाला– where we used to make the plan for our futures [not the cleaner ones :P] also not to forget that “chaiwalle” bhaiye is also the actor in the play ” ELDER BROTHER ” which some of us used to play during EYE-CRACKING PT (Parents Teachers) Meeting :S .I remember a lot of cases when he used to come to our school as a elder brother for some of my friends and teachers used through a lot of wicked comments about (his fake ward’s).After 12th class result we literally got scattered some goes to Haryana some to south because everyone of us is a crazy about engineering( or may be some MAD guys πŸ™‚ .Though some of us still decided not to leave delhi and join some medocire college , and the typical paathsalla continues πŸ™‚ but now when 2 of them called me to tell me that they are also leaving delhi to join /*INDIAN ARMY*/ , i just first congratulated them , andddd…….. no I don’t cried πŸ™‚ but still I feel that == all of us will definitely miss the year long friendship ==… and I don’t cried πŸ™‚ huhhh πŸ˜€

Remove swfdec*

If you wanna remove swfdec-mozilla from your Debian system without removing the gnome ( as it contains the dependencies on gnome metapackage ) Then follow the following instruction :

gaurav@paliwal:~/gaurav$ sudo aptitude purge swfdec-mozilla

This will remove the swfdec-mozilla package. If you still want to keep your gnome working they run the command :

gaurav@paliwal:~/gaurav$Β  sudo aptitude keep-all

This will tell Aptitude to “keep-all” installed packages. This cancels all scheduled actions on all packages (including installation, removal, or upgrade).

Nuclear Google

Apparent Google Jail Page

Google Translate for Animals

Google Street View available in Anachrome 3D

When using Google Street View you can change the view to display (faux?) anachrome 3D images. It can be enabled by clicking on the orange Street View icon, now depicting a man that is wearing Red/Cyan glasses. The man seems happy when wearing the glasses, unhappy when he just has them on his head. NOT A HOAX, actually works.

Google Maps OCCA

Google Australia changed directions for to use Australian Slang terms in the direction results. Examples of the altered directions include “You need to go south towards [street name] mate”, “Hang a right when you get to [street name]”, “Chuck a left when you get to [street name]”, “Ya gotta take the turn off onta [street name]” and saying “Ya might have to cough up some cash along here” to indicate toll booths.

Search results generated in different times

Google’s search results page displayed the time taken to load the results in different units than seconds; for example microfortnights, microweeks, nanocenturies, epochs, femtogalactic years, parsecs, skiddo, jiffies, shakes of a lamb’s tail, gigawatts, hertz, Planck times, centons, warp factors and “times the velocity of an unladen swallow”.

Youtube logo made out of ASCII art

The logo of YouTube was changed to an ASCII-style one made out of 1s.

YouTube videos with ASCII art

The Youtube logo is a reference to all the videos having a new quality setting, namely “TEXTp”. According to a notice underneath the videos, viewing the video with this quality setting enabled allows YouTube to save one US dollar ($1) per second on bandwidth costs. The notice also remarks on the source of this new “feature”, wishing the reader a happy April Fool’s Day.

April Fools 2010 – Animal Translator BETA

For April Fools day 2010, Google placed a link on the main page, advertising a new Google Animal Translator service to add to their Language Translator service. Clicking the link would take you to a page advertising an app for Android phones for the translator, with the tagline being “Bridging the gap between animals and humans”.

MUKT.IN is Back……….

One of my college Junior Vikas while preparing the speech for an open source event have written some line that not only speak of the Mukt Software philosophy but also a lot about the change in philosophy of software development :

Those lines goes like this :

——————-

There was a time when Operating System was synonymous with Microsoft Wintows TM. The failure to use the word TM used to attract copyright violation suits. But its history now. Copyright has been replaced by copyleft, Internet Explorer has been shown the door by Firefox, GIMP is giving Photoshop a run for its money and a certain VLC player plays all your favorite YouTube videos instead of a “now so obsolete” Windows Media Player.

All these softwares are open source and totally free, these are FOSS-Free and open Source Software. The motto behind FOSS, as described aptly by Ubuntu, the largest linux distribution is that software should be available free of charge, that software tools should be usable by people in their local language and despite any disabilities, and that people should have the freedom to customize and alter their software in whatever way they see fit.

——————

If you believe in the above lines then go-go-go and pack your bag because Mukt.in is BACK :
